Wamlambez, Wamnyonyez: Understanding new street lingo


Every now and then , people make up words to hide the real meaning of something. It’s quite clear that day by day, people are embracing sheng unlike a while back when people thought it was too ghetto.

A number of times you’ve heard a word or phrase and wondered what it means.

Well, here are some phrases and the meaning

  1. Lamba Lolo

This is one phrase that went viral within a short time and someone liked it so much and turned it to a song. Ethic hit the studio and blessed us with a killer song, which is still a hit to date. The direct translation of Lamba Lolo is licking a lollipop, but has a hidden meaning, an action performed behind closed doors.

2. Wamlambez, Wamnyonyez

So, Decimal Records released a new song, ‘DRINX-na-MAYENX and in that song they used the words Wamlambez and Wamnyonyez. Now these two words might seem like just any other word, but they have a s3xual meaning to it. The direct translation is lick and suck. Fill in the blank spaces.

3. Mayenx

There’s a certain phrase that people use when they want to maybe throw a party. What they say is ‘Come na mzinga, nikona mayenx’. What this basically mean is come with liquor, I have girls around. So in short Mayenx is girls.

4. Bora Uhai

So when someone tells you something or maybe they are flossing about something, you simply tell them, bora uhai. What it means is the important thing is living and not what you are telling me.
